چکیده

Process monitoring through control charts is a quite popular practice in statistical process control. From a statistical point of view, a superior control chart is the one which has an efficient design structure, for the case of both known and unknown parameters. There are auxiliary information–based location charts for an improved monitoring of process mean level. These charting structures have some limitations like assuming normality, the parameters to be known and focusing mainly on phase I monitoring. In many practical situations, nonnormal process behaviors are more frequent. Information about process parameters is not available, and we have to rely on the limited data available from the process to establish the limits in phase I and then use them in phase II monitoring. To have a compromise between the statistical and the practical purposes, a natural desire is to have a control chart that can serve both the concerns efficiently. This study is planned for the same objective focusing the auxiliary-based Shewhart’s control charts for location parameter. We have investigated the properties of the design structures of different location charts based on some already used and some new estimators with known and unknown parameters for normal and nonnormally distributed processes. By evaluating the performance of different charting structures in terms of power and run length properties in phase I and phase II, we have identified those more capable of making a good compromise between the abovementioned purposes in terms of statistical efficiency and practical desires. Robust Means Modeling: An Alternative for Hypothesis Testing of Independent Means Under Variance Heterogeneity and Nonnormality

This study proposes robust means modeling (RMM) approaches for hypothesis testing of mean differences for between-subjects designs in order to control the biasing effects of nonnormality and variance inequality. Drawing from structural equation modeling (SEM), the RMM approaches make no assumption of variance homogeneity and employ robust estimation/rescaling strategies in order to alleviate re...

The X Control Chart under Non-Normality

This paper studies design schemes for the X control chart under non-normality. Different estimators of the standard deviation are considered and the effect of the estimator on the performance of the control chart under non-normality is investigated. Two situations are distinguished. In the first situation, the effect of non-normality on the X control chart is investigated by using the control l...

Resampling Based Empirical Prediction: An Application to Small Area Estimation

Best linear unbiased prediction is well known for its wide range of applications including small area estimation. While the theory is well established for mixed linear models and under normality of the error and mixing distributions, the literature is sparse for nonlinear mixed models under nonnormality of the error or of the mixing distributions. This article develops a resampling based unifie...

High-Performance Robust Three-Axis Finite-Time Attitude Control Approach Incorporating Quaternion Based Estimation Scheme to Overactuated Spacecraft

With a focus on investigations in the area of overactuated spacecraft, a new high-performance robust three-axis finite-time attitude control approach, which is organized in connection with the quaternion based estimation scheme is proposed in the present research with respect to state-of-the-art. The approach proposed here is realized based upon double closed loops to deal with the angular rate...

Nonnormality estimation in projection-type system realization methods

Using Henrici’s departure from normality as tool, we investigate the influence of nonnormality on the spectral sensitivity of system matrices of projection-type system realization methods. Basically, we show that the system matrix of one of these methods is diagonally similar to the system matrix of the classical Kung’s method and then conclude that the spectral sensitivity of all methods decre...
